Amaryllis Still Life Oil Painting by Eva Holmberg-Jacobsson.  This beautiful and vibrant large still life oil painting on canvas is by the well-known Swedish artist Eva Holmberg-Jacobsson (1910-2003). Red amaryllis and yellow tulips in a decorative pink floral jug pop against the muted blue and green background.  There is so much to appreciate in this perfectly executed piece - the colour palette, brushwork and compostion are just wonderful. Signed by the artist and dated 1942.

 

A listed artist, Holmberg-Jacobsson is represented in Sweden's Malmö Museum and also museums in Helsingborg, Trelleborg and Landskrona, and Artcurial, Paris and in Cairo.

  • Eva Holmberg-Jacobsson (1910-2003) was born in Malmö, Sweden.
    She studied at Skåne School of Painting, Otto Sköld’s School and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris.

    Known for her Matisse inspired landscapes, interiors and still life artwork, she spent a lot of time in Mediterranean Europe, especially on the French Riviera. She was associated with the post-Impressionists using a colourful palette with a strong feeling for light and atmosphere. She especially liked to paint landscapes, home interiors and cafés.

    Holmberg-Jacobsson is represented at Malmö Museum, Helsingborg Museum, Trelleborg Museum and Landskrona Museum amongst others.

    This large oil painting is in an excellent condition with minimal losses despite its age (1942) and is presented in the original vintage frame.  Wear is commensurate with age and use.

    This is a particularly lovely example with the artists' use of vibrant colours really popping against the muted background.  Excellent condition with minimal loss despite age (dated 1942).
