Antique Georgian Oak Lowboy

£325.00Price
  • A lovely example of an 18th Century Georgian oak lowboy (side table), with a plank top, one long drawer over a simple apron; sitting on round tapering legs ending in pad feet.

This compact console table is full of country charm and character.  The oak has aged wonderfully with the striking grain producing a lovely patina.  At some stage in the early 1900s the table passed through Arthur Newbery's fine furniture and antiques store in Reading as a depository label is present in the drawer.

Condition report: Given the age of this antique table, there is the expected surface wear commensurate with age and use.  The original finish is worn; but this adds to the history.  All joints are solid and there are no historic repairs or wood worm.  Art Nouveau handles (1890-1900) have replaced the originals - this was fairly common as people often updated the hardware on furniture in keeping with the current trends. Replacement Georgian handles could be sourced if desired.

This antique lowboy or side table has great appeal and could work in many places around the home.  Lovely and compact at 77cm in width.

Delivered lightly polished and ready to place in the home.
