Caledonian Pottery Co, Rutherglen Glazed Whisky Pot
Lovely Scottish whisky jar produced by the Caledonian Pottery Company in the late 19th / early 20th century. Like the traditional French Confit Pots, the bottom half of the pot was left unglazed as it would be buried in the cool soil of the cellar up to the glazing line.
The Caledonian Pottery factory was in production in Rutherglen from 1872 to 1929 and is now considered to be of national significance due to the variety of its products and its extensive international export trade at the time.
This highly collectable jar characteristically has the classic mustard yellow / brown coloured glaze.
This sculptural piece would add a touch of antique country charm to the kitchen, hall, fireplace or vestibule.
