A lovely Edwardian card or games table exhibiting fine craftsmanship. Very well made, the fabulous envelope top rotates which activates a wooden peg to elevate one of the leaves to open it ready for play. An honest piece, in original condition with the exception of the replacement baize. Dated c. 1905.
Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Envelope Games Table
This super compact Edwardian mahogany envelope card table is in a very good antique condition. The lovely decorative top (string inlaid with banding around the edges) rotates clockwise to slightly pop up one of the envelope sections. The envelope sections open out to create a playing surface, with a baize lined centre and 4 gaming wells.
The table features a useful single frieze drawer at the front with cast brass pulls. The table is then raised on four elegant tapered legs with satinwood string inlay, all on castors.
Wear commensurate with age and use - there is some light wear to the frieze drawer above the left hand handle and the odd ring mark to the playing section is a sign that a few drinks have been enjoyed over a game or two! We like to think of this as being 'perfectly imperfect' and a sign of its history. We have replaced the green baize with a new one as it was very worn. Please see photos for details.
