Rare Early 18th Century Antique Table.
English Georgian Elm Side Table
This small country house Georgian Elm Antique Side / Lamp Table is a rather lovely and honest early 18th century piece.
The table dates from around 1725 and has a beautifully figured top above frieze drawer with two original decorative brass handles. This super antique stands on four canted legs and is full of beautiful charm and character and the elm has aged wonderfully with a striking grain.
In very good condition this table has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
It is rare to find tables of this style made from English elm, with oak and mahogany being far more common.
The full width drawer is dovetail jointed and the brass plate-handles are original and have never been disturbed.
It stands firm with all joints solid.
This small lowboy is of compact proportions and would make the ideal side / lamp table.
