Elegant 1950s Chiavari Italian side chairs with delicate spindles and the original hand woven cane seats. A rare vintage find looking for a new forever home.
Pair of Mid Century Chiavari Chairs
Mid-Century beechwood Chiavari chairs based on a design by Italian cabinet maker Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi (1767-1855). Originally designed and made in 1807, Chiavari chairs were re-invented by Gio Ponti in the1950's.
Renowned for their strength whilst being very lightweight Chiavari chairs became popular again in the 20th century and are now highly sought after and collected.
These chairs with their hand caned seats are in the original condition with wear commensurate with age and use. The frames are sound; some losses to the decorative spindles but no breaks or historic repairs.
These chairs would make lovely bedroom, hall or side chairs for occasional use. A design classic and an opportunity to re-home a collectors piece.
