A rare find. This polished brass doorstop is in a wonderful antique condition. Superb twist detailing, this elegant design is by William Tonks and Sons who supplied brassware to Liberty London between 1852 and 1889.
The axe head shaped loop handle with a chamfered socle, above a rope twist shank, finished to the bottom with a chamfered socle, as per the top. The base comprises a stepped bell shape, with a rounded bottom mould. The rear has the original cast iron loading which is stamped with the WT&S makers mark.
