Antique country house ladder back side chair perfect for hallway or kitchen. A really pretty Edwardian, oak framed ladder back side chair with decorative shaped splats, hand-turned front legs and bobbin stretcher. English antique, Edwardian, dated c. 1900-1910.
Antique Country House Ladder Back Chair
An attractive antique high back ladder chair with four arched column supports. This is a compact Edwardian chair and as such versatile - suiting many interior schemes and rooms: bedroom chair, side chair, kitchen chair, hall chair.
Would suggest occasional use rather than as a dining chair given age of rush seating but it is perfectly sound structurally. The oak frame has a lovely antique patina, with the turned legs and front bobbin stretcher showcasing woodturning craftsmanship of the Edwardian period.
The original rush seat is firm and fit for purpose but has broken pieces, which is to be expected given its 100+ years age. This could be replaced which would cost approx £0.70 per square inch, dependent on craftsperson.
Delivered lightly cleaned, the frame waxed and polished and ready to place in the home.
